Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells crafted from high-quality dental porcelain. Why patients choose porcelain veneers
Disclaimer: This Image is for illustrative purposes only. Individual results and patient outcomes may vary.
Porcelain veneers are a popular choice for a number of reasons:
- Natural appearance: Porcelain closely mimics the light-reflecting properties of natural teeth, providing a lifelike result.
- Stain resistance: Porcelain veneers are highly resistant to staining from coffee, tea, wine, and other common culprits.
- Durability: With proper care, porcelain veneers can last many years, making them a long-term option for smile improvement.
- Minimally invasive: Veneer placement requires only a small amount of enamel reshaping, preserving the majority of your natural tooth structure.
- Versatility: Porcelain veneers can address a wide range of cosmetic concerns, from discolouration and chips to gaps and minor misalignment.

Your porcelain veneer process step-by-step
Step 1: Initial Consultation and Smile Assessment
Your treatment begins with a comprehensive consultation at Dentélle by WDC. During your visit, our experienced team will discuss your smile goals, evaluate your oral health, and determine if porcelain veneers are the right option for you.
Step 2: Digital Smile Design
High resolution digital 3D scans are taken of your teeth showing the position and shape of your teeth including any cracks or chips. These are combined with digital photos of your face and smile so that we can design your new smile to closely match your facial features.
Step 3: Tooth Preparation
To prepare your teeth for veneers, a small amount of enamel is carefully reshaped from the front surface of your teeth. This ensures your new veneers sit correctly on your teeth. Our team takes precise digital scans of your teeth to create your custom veneers.
Step 4: Temporary Veneers
While your permanent veneers are being crafted, provisional veneers may be placed to protect your prepared teeth and provide a preview of your proposed treatment. These provisional veneers allow you to get used to the feel and appearance of your future porcelain veneers.
Step 5: Custom Veneer Creation
Your porcelain veneers are handmade by our experienced ceramicist based on the digital plan we have created. Each veneer will be made to match the colour, shape and size of your natural teeth, working toward a harmonious and lifelike result.
Step 6: Veneer Bonding
Once your custom veneers are ready, you’ll return to our clinic to have them bonded to your teeth. Your dentist will carefully bond each veneer to the front surface of your teeth using a strong adhesive. The veneers are then cured with a special light to secure them in place. Final adjustments are made to ensure a comfortable fit and natural appearance.
Step 7: Final Adjustments and Polishing
After your veneers are bonded, your dentist will make any final adjustments to ensure your bite is comfortable and your smile looks natural. Your veneers will be polished to a natural shine. Results vary. Individual assessment required.
Risks and Recovery
Porcelain veneers are a common restorative option, but as with any procedure, there are risks and recovery considerations.
Possible risks include:
- Temporary tooth sensitivity, especially to hot or cold
- Minor gum irritation following placement
- Veneer fracture or chipping if exposed to excessive biting forces
- Veneers may need adjustment or replacement over time
Recovery considerations:
- Many patients resume normal activities immediately after treatment
- Mild sensitivity may last for a few days and usually settles quickly
- Good oral hygiene and avoiding habits like nail biting or teeth grinding can extend the lifespan of veneers

Addressing a variety of cosmetic concerns
Porcelain veneers may be a suitable option to address aesthetic concerns with a minimally invasive approach. You may benefit from veneers if you have:
- Teeth that are discoloured and do not respond to whitening treatments
- Chipped or cracked teeth
- Gaps or spaces between your teeth
- Uneven or irregularly shaped teeth
- Minor misalignment or crooked teeth
- Worn-down tooth edges
During your consultation at Dentélle by WDC, our team will assess your dental health and aesthetic goals to determine if porcelain veneers are a suitable option for your needs.
